You won't spend much time on these – the useful tips you'll find below will help you make your daily routine useful for your brain and memory.
#1 Try to memorize lists
For example, read your shopping list before you leave home. Once you're at the grocery store, try to remember all the items yourself. Then look at the list and see if you've missed something.
Repeat this exercise all the time and see how you make progress. The same can be done with your to-do or any other list.
You can also try to memorize phone numbers.

#2 Learn how to cook new dishes
Learning new recipes is actually a very good thinking exercise. It improves memory and involves different senses, such as taste, smell and touch.
While cooking, you also develop your fine motor skills. Different parts of your brain are involved, which boosts your intelligence.

#3 Play with your mind
This one takes a lot of concentration, but can also be quite beneficial. When you are stuck in a queue or a traffic jam, don't grab your phone the first thing. Think of any word and visualize its spelling, then try to remember other words that end or begin with the same letters.
In fact, you can come up with a lot of such games: create anagrams, play tic-tac-toe in your mind (a very good memory exercise), close your eyes and try to remember the surroundings in detail.

#4 Draw maps of the places you've been to
When you return from a vacation, draw a map of the best places you've visited. You can do it alone or when you share your impressions from the trip with somebody.
#5 Repeat what other people say in your mind
When you watch an educational TV show, listen to a podcast or attend a lecture, try to repeat long sentences silently in your mind. This way, you will use your memory right after you memorize something, and thus train your brain.
Vice versa, when you read something you need to remember, don't do it silently – say it out loud and it will be easier for you to memorize stuff.

#6 Wash dishes with your eyes closed
In fact, you can do so with any of your chores. Make sure it's safe! When you repeat the same actions from day to day, your brain gets used to it, so you don't learn anything. But if you take the same actions with your eyes closed, your brain starts using other neural pathways, which trains your intelligence. Profit!
